Don't Skip a Beat: The Importance of Your Annual Physical Exam

Updated: Nov 3, 2023

We are all super busy! Should you postpone your annual visit with your doctor, physician assistant or nurse practitioner?

If you are one of the people who gets so busy in your day-to-day activities, that you forget to prioritize your health and have somewhat neglected that piece of yourself, please listen up!

Your healthcare screenings and annual physicals are super important! They are put in place for you to stop and think about where you may be placing yourself at risk, intentionally or unintentionally, when it comes to your health. Many times, we walk around thinking we're in pretty good health and almost invincible. Occasionally, there are some medical conditions that we don't realize we may be at risk for and don’t recognize the changes in our body.

For example, colon cancer can be like this. Many times, it is silent until it is in a later state of cancer

instead of in the beginning. That is why it is so important to have colon cancer screenings once you

reach age 45 or sooner if you have risk factors.

Other important screenings include diabetes, heart disease, high cholesterol, high blood pressure,

mammograms, PAP smears, thyroid (metabolism) and so much more…

If you have not had your annual health screening and exam this year, please pick up the phone or go on the internet or app and make that appointment today! A wellness visit could make the difference

between catching something in the early stages before it becomes a huge problem and while it is still

manageable.

Make it happen! You have the power to change your health outcomes. You can do this! … and if you're looking for guidance and additional support for yourself or a family, we got you at Faith Collaborative Health.
